Tottenham Already Have Hidden Europa League Final Advantage And Man United Are To Blame

Tottenham face Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium in the Europa League final

Tottenham are just one win away from ending their 17 year drought without a trophy and it could come at the cost of one of their Premier League rivals.

Spurs booked their spot in the Europa League final on Thursday night with a professional win over Bodo/Glimt. After a resounding 3-1 win in London last week, Ange Postecoglou’s men won 2-0 in Norway on Thursday night.

It sets up a mouth-watering all-English European final against Manchester United on May 21. Both teams have endured a shocking domestic season with them currently sitting in the bottom six of the Premier League.

Postecoglou has faced pressure all season with United boss Ruben Amorim also being criticised for his side’s performances in the league. The winner will book their place in next season’s Champions League, giving England six participants in the competition.

Much has been made of United’s slight advantage for the final having recently played in the San Mames Stadium during their semi-final win over Athletic Bilbao. However, Spurs have their own advantage that could prove pivotal on the night.

With the final being held in Bilbao, locals are expected to get their hands on tickets among the 29,000 Spurs and United fans inside the stadium. Many of them will be Athletic supporters who have been denied the opportunity to watch their team in the final, due to being knocked out by United.

It may give Spurs more of an advantage with the atmosphere inside the San Mames Stadium with more fans backing Postecoglou’s men to glory. It will, however, fall to the players to produce a memorable night for the thousands of supporters.
