NPFL condemns attack on Shooting Stars players, officials

The Nigeria Premier Football League,NPFL, has expressed concern over fans invasion at the Sani Abacha Stadium in a matchday eighth fixture involving Kano Pillars and Shooting Stars.

The NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi stated this on Sunday after the game.

Owumi condemned the act and assured that the league body awaits the official match reports and complete video evidence from the Match Commissioner and Referees.

Part of the statement reads: “we condemn in the strongest terms any act of violence, intimidation, or misconduct directed at players, match officials, or fans”.

Owumi stressed that stakeholders and football lovers that the isolated incident is being treated with utmost seriousness, and appropriate actions will follow upon review of the full reports.

“We reaffirm our commitment to maintaining discipline, safety, and professionalism at all league venues across the country”.

Kano Pillars were held to a 1-1 draw in the week eight clash.
