LaLiga has cancelled plans to play Barcelona vs Villarreal in Miami, US.
The Spanish topflight game had been scheduled to be played at the Hard Rock Stadium on December 20.
If the match had gone ahead, it would have been the first time a European league game would be staged abroad.
But LaLiga have called off the plans amid criticism and outrage from players and teams.
“Following discussions with the promoter of the official LaLiga match in Miami, the latter has announced its decision to cancel the event due to the uncertainty surrounding Spain in recent weeks,” a statement on Tuesday read.
“LaLiga deeply regrets that this project, which represented a historic and unparalleled opportunity for the internationalization of Spanish football, cannot go ahead.”
