Former Turkey Striker Calls Victor Osimhen ‘A Weird Guy’ After Galatasaray Performance
Super Eagles and Galatasaray Victor Osimhen has caught the eye of former Anderlecht and Turkey striker Serhat Akın.
The 26-year-old joined Okan Buruk’s side on a season-long campaign before signing a permanent four-year deal last summer.
He has been in fine form for the Turkish Super Lig Champions, scoring 43 goals and providing seven assists in 50 games across all competitions since the start of last season.
Osimhen is the greatest import into the Turkish Lig
In quotes revealed by Haber Sariki Mizi, Akın praised Galatasaray’s decision to recruit Leroy Sane and Victor Osimhen over the summer, claiming the Nigerian is the greatest-ever forward in Turkiye.
“They’re discussing Leroy Sane’s quality. I think it’s a terrible thing to do. It’s really football ignorance. As long as Sane’s willing, there’s no man he can’t pass. Gradually, he becomes very dangerous,” the 44-year-old said.
“Even Osimhen was discussed. Osimhen and En-Nesyri were compared. Some guys talk nonsense like “En-Nesyri scores without penalties, Osimhen’s being penalised more.”
“Of course, they have to do something to watch. We have a lot of bad advertising.
“Osimhen, he’s a weird guy. I think it’s the biggest centre-forward in the league, ever.
“Icardi, the pure scorer, did some good work for two years and became the top scorer.
“Icardi is a different player. If I were the manager, with Osimhen, I’d be so happy with my team. He’s my dream striker,” the former FC Koln forward concluded.
After winning the domestic double with Galatasaray last season, Osimhen has helped the Cim Bom Aslan remain top of the summit again this season. They’re currently five points above Trabzonspor.
