EPL: Amorim explains Man United’s three back-to-back wins, identifies ‘moving machine’ in his squad
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has said that his side performed better in their defeat to Arsenal than in their victories over Liverpool and Brighton in recent weeks.
Arsenal beat United 1-0 at Old Trafford in their opening match of the 2025–26 season, but Amorim appears to have turned things around since then.
The Red Devils have now won three games in a row, defeating Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton, and currently sit fourth on the table.
The Portuguese manager spoke with reporters after their victory against Brighton on Saturday.
“I think the best game we played this season was against Arsenal, the first one,” he said.
“[But] it was a more complete performance [against Brighton than Liverpool].
“You can say whatever you want about Liverpool, but they didn’t deserve to lose. We deserved to win, but they didn’t deserve to lose.
“I think today [against Brighton], we did a little bit of everything. We had the ball.
“We created chances, we defended high up the pitch and low when necessary. I liked the performance more today than last weekend.”
Speaking further, Amorim described his forward Bryan Mbeumo as a “machine” after the summer signing scored twice in the win over Brighton.
“He’s a working machine,” Amorim added. “He’s so good in transitions. He’s improving in the final third.”
