Drama in Victoria Island! Gunmen Snatch 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 — Police Launch Massive Manhunt

A daring armed robbery rocked Victoria Island, Lagos, in the early hours of Saturday, November 1, 2025, after a group of gunmen stole a black 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 at gunpoint.

The vehicle, registered as WTO 21 AM with VIN 4JGFB4FB8SB274117, was snatched around midnight on Akin-Olugbade Street. According to eyewitnesses, four armed men approached the parked SUV with the driver inside and ordered him out before seizing the car.

“They fired a warning shot into the air to scare everyone off before speeding away,” one witness said. “It happened so fast, people were too frightened to react.”

The robbers were last seen heading toward the Ozumba Mbadiwe axis. The driver reportedly sustained minor injuries after briefly struggling with the attackers.

A senior police officer attached to the Victoria Island Division confirmed the robbery and revealed that the Lagos State Police Command has launched a citywide manhunt.

“The Lagos State Police Command has activated joint patrol operations involving anti-robbery, surveillance, and intelligence teams. All exit routes from Victoria Island have been placed under close monitoring,” the officer said.

The stolen car is described as a black metallic 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 with factory-fitted tinted windows, brown leather interior, AMG alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a chrome front grille.

Police are urging the public, especially car dealers and auto workshops, to be vigilant and report any sighting of the vehicle to the nearest station or through the emergency numbers 112 and 767.

The incident has sparked renewed safety concerns in Victoria Island, with residents calling for more police patrols, improved street lighting, and stronger collaboration with private security guards.
