CAF Champions League: Rivers United clinch group stage spot after defeating Black Bulls
Rivers United defeated Black Bulls of Mozambique 3-1 in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary second-round tie on Saturday.
Finidi George’s side won the contest 3-2 on aggregate.
The Port Harcourt club have also secured a place in the money-spinning group stage of the competition.
It is the first time they have qualified for the group stage of Africa’s biggest football club competition.
Rivers United scored twice in the first half through Wasiu Falolu and Maclyn Biokpo.
Moctar Diallo reduced the deficit for Black Bulls two minutes after the break, before substitute Timothy Zacharia netted the third for the hosts 14 minutes from time.
