Speaking to journalists, Inko-Tariah criticised the conduct of the local government elections held on August 30, noting that while the Supreme Court ordered a re-run of the polls, it never authorised that such elections be conducted under what he described as “military rule.”
“They conducted local government elections on August 30. But the Supreme Court said it should be re-conducted, it did not say it should be conducted under military rule,” he said. “The Supreme Court directed that the statement of re-conducting the council election to the state governor and not to a military administrator. Well, people are already in court challenging that election. Let us wait after the judgment.”
He accused the federal government of using the emergency rule as a political tool rather than a response to insecurity. According to him, Vice Admiral Ibas himself had earlier declared that the state was peaceful upon assumption of office.
He further alleged that governance in the state has regressed during the emergency period.
According to him, services have worsened and citizens, including youth corps members, have begun to feel the negative impact of the political crisis.
Inko-Tariah accused President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of trying to neutralise Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s authority.
He warned that the ongoing political realignments suggest a strategy to dominate the state’s political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
He concluded by demanding that Vice Admiral Ibas provide a detailed account of all federal allocations and internally generated revenue during the six-month period, pointing out that the state’s IGR stands at over ₦20 billion monthly.
He also noted that while Fubara initially proposed a ₦1.1 trillion budget, the administrator re-presented a ₦1.8 trillion proposal to the National Assembly, raising concerns over unchecked spending.Pay Attention Viral Video Of 56-Years-Old Father Slept With His 15-Years-Old Daughter Because Of.
