BREAKING NEWS: FG Approves New Nigerian Army Depot In Abakaliki
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly approved the establishment of a new Nigerian Army Depot in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, in a move aimed at strengthening the manpower base and operational capacity of the Nigerian Army.
A report by security analyst Zagozola Makama on Saturday stated that the new Depot would complement existing Army training institutions and help guarantee a continuous supply of well-trained personnel for deployment nationwide.
A military source explained that the initiative aligns with the Nigerian Army’s strategic plan to boost national security and produce combat-ready soldiers capable of tackling a range of security challenges, including terrorism, insurgency and other internal threats.
The Depot is expected to deliver specialist and mission-oriented training, with emphasis on marksmanship, fieldcraft skills and overall operational readiness. It will also include provisions designed to protect the welfare and wellbeing of recruits during and after their service.
The decision to establish the Depot in Abakaliki comes amid ongoing federal government efforts to enhance the manpower capacity of the Nigerian military.
