BREAKING NEWS: Why EFCC Arraigned Former Minister Chris Ngige In Court Today
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Senator Chris Ngige, former minister of labour and productivity, over alleged contract fraud.
Ngige was arraigned on an eight-count charge before an FCT high court in Gwarimpa on Friday, and he pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
In the charge dated 31 October, the EFCC alleged that Ngige used his position to confer undue advantage by awarding multiple contracts to associates and companies linked to him.
Ngige served as governor of Anambra state from 2003 to 2006 and as minister of labour from 2015 to 2023.
On 11 December, Fred Chukwuelobe, his media aide, said the former governor was in EFCC custody following rumours that he had been kidnapped.
