VDM Breaks Silence, Issues Apology Following Plane Altercation With Mr Jollof
Social media critic Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has finally spoken up after his in-flight clash with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, caused a major delay on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
The confrontation, which played out in front of passengers, forced airline officials to halt boarding and drew wide public attention.
In a video posted on Tuesday, VDM admitted he was at fault.
He said he accepted blame for the disruption and regretted the inconvenience the fight caused other travellers. According to him, the situation should never have happened in the first place.
“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines. What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it,” he said.
He explained that the delay affected people who had important personal and professional commitments.
“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed. Some people might have had medical emergencies, and some had business contracts to sign. I don’t know what that little delay would have cost them, and I really want to apologise,” he added.
VDM extended his apology to everyone on board — the older passengers, the younger ones, and the crew members.
He admitted that the altercation was unnecessary and could have been avoided entirely.
Looking back, he described his conduct as disappointing.
“Looking back at what happened yesterday, I really didn’t like that part. Even though some people saw everything as a cruise on social media, I acted irresponsibly,” he said.
He also clarified that while he could not completely promise such incidents would never happen again, he assured Nigerians that it would not occur in public spaces like airplanes or buses.
“I cannot guarantee that it will not happen again. I can only guarantee that it will not happen on the plane, on the bus or in a public place that will stop people from going to their destination,” he stated.
POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that both VDM and Mr Jollof may face criminal prosecution after the heated confrontation forced security personnel to intervene.
