UCL: Why Arsenal thrashed Atletico Madrid 4-0 – Simeone

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has claimed Arsenal’s quality and work rate was the reason they lost 4-0 in a Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

The LaLiga side held the Gunners to a goalless opening half at the Emirates.

But Mikel Arteta’s men scored four times within 13 minutes in the second half.

Gabriel Magalhaes headed in Declan Rice’s free-kick, before Gabriel Martinelli doubled their lead.

Viktor Gyokeres then ended his goal drought with a brace, as Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the campaign.

“I would say the best team we have faced this season,” Simeone told Amazon Prime.

“They compete so well, their players run and run and they have quality all over the pitch.

“They deserved to win today and I want to congratulate them.”
