Newcastle United star, Alexander Isak, has named Real Madrid superstar, Kylian Mbappe as the best player in the world at the moment.
Despite Real Madrid crashing out of the Champions League and running second in LaLiga, Mbappe has been in impressive form for Los Blancos in his debut season.
The France national team captain spent seasons in PSG before moving to Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
Although the former Monaco star had a slow start at the Bernabeu, he has taken time to adjust to the centre-forward position as he preferred to play on the left.
However, the Frenchman still scored 36 goals and provided four assists in 52 outings across competitions so far this season.
He also won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup with Real Madrid.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Isak, who himself has been in top form this season, was asked to name the current best footballer in the world.
The Sweden International picked Mbappe without hesitation.
“Best player in the world right now? Mbappe,” he said.
Isak has scored 27 times in 40 outings across competitions this season and led Newcastle to the Carabao Cup.
